Girls Inc. (Summer 2024)

Our group organized a workshop for high school students in the Girls Inc. program! We discussed air quality monitoring with the students, and then students built their own particulate matter sensor assemblies using low cost sensors and a microcontroller.

Past activities (before WashU)

As part of the Advanced Graduate Leadership Program at Yale, I developed an air quality workshop for high school students. Sessions involved learning about how and why to monitor air quality, building simple air quality monitor assemblies, deploying the monitors on a field trip to the Yale Coastal Field Station (the Gentner Lab’s long term air quality monitoring site in Guilford, CT), and learning to analyze the data.

Workshop lesson content and monitor assembly instructions are all available online.
